Certificates
/ Degrees: Associates Degree in Specialized Multimedia Technology,
minoring in Web Design [c/o PTI], Licensed Bartender [c/o The National
Bartenders Association; Roy Galloway].
Modeling: When the opportunities presents themselves, I am
not abject to modeling/photo sessions. I do not have a "portfolio"
in the professional sense, but do have many random images available both
on and offline. Black and white soft-focus is my preferred style, although
color is fine as well. I DO NOT do pornographic or fully nude work. Feel
free to contact me for more info and to obtain a copy of my policy.
Bartending: I have been certified by the National Bartending
Association and would love to get my career off the ground in this field.
Feel free to contact me for more info.
Tattooing: Some of my designs are going to be located on the
site, but I am always in the midst of creating new ones. My style is slightly
tribal, but mostly very, very abstract. My specialities are lettering
and shadowing; my weaknesses are portraits/super-realistic.
Music: I listen to many different things, what spins through the speakers
depends on the current mood. For the past 2 months or so there's been
a lot of Mike Ness, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Aphex Twin, Flogging
Molly, Sean Paul, Guttermouth, and Pink Floyd going on. More so the first
two mentioned than the others, but... yeah. I don't have favorite anythings
anymore.
Art: My style is my own. My best ideas show up at 2AM and tend to
look completely different in the morning, much to my glee. I enjoy designing
in general; everything from corporate to school-age.
Written work: Again, my style is purely my own. The formal term I
use for my work is "Retention", meaning just a ranting freestyle
of sorts. I've been writing everything from poems to lengthy stories to
interviews for as long as I can remember. More than anything, writing
helps me deal with daily life, and eases some of the more intense times.
Books: My love for writing stems from my love of books. Learning
to read at age 2, I don't understand when people say they just can't "get
into" reading. It is a passion of mine, and I've become what's known
as a Compulsive Reader. This is not always a good thing, especially during
driving, but it makes for an interesting life. The most recent things
I've read include Henry Miller's "Quiet Days in Clichy" and
Douglas Adams' "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series.
Photography: I love photography. Living in such a scenic area provides
one with more opportunities than I'd have ever thought, and I enjoy every
minute of it. Self-portraits have been my 'thing' as of late, although
my kitty makes an excellent subject as well. Large samples of some of
my photography are located throughout the site.
Inspiration: My inspirations come from many different angles. To name
a few: my boyfriend, my kitty, some highly talented friends back East,
San Diego, insomnia, Bob Ross, Emeril, clothing, random tattoo artists,
the homeless man on the beach who paints beautifully, pain, music music
MUSIC, bipolarity, books, ostricization, disowning, love, insanity, death...
everything in life can be an inspiration in the right light.
Semi-Brief Life Story and Self Description: Growing up in Southwestern
Pennsylvania was interesting in a semi-country- girl-livin'-in-the-ghetto
slash city-girl-at-heart kind of way. I excelled academically most of
the way up through nursery school, middle school and high school, winning
different awards/contests as I went. I was and always have been a huge
fan and top-notch student of English, music and art classes in just about
any form. I'm happy with the path I've chosen so far, but sometimes I
wonder if I should've majored in English. Who knows. Of course I also
wanted to major in music and maybe go to a culinary school on the side,
but that's what I get for being me.
So...early into high school there was a year or so spent on the ColorGuard/Silkline
squad, then I joined Band playing clarinet at the beginning of 10th grade.
Thanks to some private lessons, I progressed rapidly with that and managed
to win a few awards here and there. District Band was a fun time. Band
in general was a very good thing for me to be in, I've made my closest
friends through it. It also promoted my love of music and allowed me to
show off talents I didn't know were there. Throughout high school I was
involved in my church a great deal; helped out with the Youth Group and
different projects the church did. Went to a few Youthfests, a Gathering
down in New Orleans where I was involved for 2 weeks with Habitat for
Humanity; just basically had a lot of fun and made some great friends.
In June of 1999 I graduated from Aliquippa Senior High and started the
July term at Pittsburgh Technical Institute. In the beginning I majored
in Graphic Design, then switched to Multimedia/Web Design in the 3rd terms.
Whether this was a mistake or a blessing I couldn't tell you. Most of
my design skills are self-taught. The only thing PTI really gave me were
headaches and a knowledge of piracy... hence all my free software. However
PTI was not all bad, the students I was friends with were quite artistically
and/or musically inclined, and we all kind of helped each other out. [Feel
free to check out the ones I've got linked up, most especially euthanized
and dreginjection.]
As for that school... I would not now or ever recommend such a giant waste
of money or time to anyone. They should be sued for breach of contract
regarding both placement and assisstance, among other things. They are
a failure and a poor excuse for an institution, not to mention a general
hassle. Enough of that subject though.
My July 2001 graduation awarded me with an Associates Degree in Specialized
Multimedia Technologies. Directly after graduation I began securing plans
for the my move out West, and on August 19th 2001, found myself on a plane
to San Diego, California. This would be thanks to Jason. He and I grew
up in the about the same area, and after several years of continuous friendship,
we managed to begin a relationship that's going quite well. He'd moved
out to California in early 2000 and we kept in touch off and on, but didn't
offically start dating until May of 2001. With both of us noting that
a long-distance relationship would be near impossible, he asked me to
move in with him, and of course I happily obliged. Currently he, I and
our kitty Brak live in the most interesting suburbia of Mission Valley,
here in the heart of San Diego. 10-15 minutes from everything including
the beach(es), the zoo, downtown, Hillcrest (my favorite area), and a
host of other spots. Great place for someone who's in their early 20's,
not to mention the gorgeous weather and cool music scene. I'm getting
into the whole "physical fitness" scene as well, something you
can't really help once you've been here long enough. Running/jogging on
the beaches or many hiking/biking trails, walking a couple miles here
and there, etc. Plus monthly camping trips out to the Mojave Desert, something
I consider a giant personal accomplishment.
So that brings us pretty much up to date. Here I am, enjoying life and
trying to get by. Employment is interesting. My self-employment consists
of running the infamous Young Enterprises aka PantherQueen Dot Com Industries.
Meaning I accept contractual work for web design, graphic design; things
of that nature. I also have a full-time job with V International, a somewhat
complicated graphics design position to explain, but an enjoyable job
none the less.
That's
pretty much me in a nutshell. I'm a very random girl with no set style/label,
and am eccentric in a bunch of different ways. In general most people
describe me as laid-back and humourous with a lemony twist of sarcasm
thrown in for the occasional laugh. Basically just a decent person to
have around altogether. Friendly, fun, artsy, slightly off-key, a spectacular
driver; all that good nifty type stuff. My flaws tend to work their way
into being strengths (like my perfectionism), so it all turns out alright
in the end. I can read people pretty well after the first meeting or so.
One thing I've found amusing is that people I become good friends with
have trouble describing me. Of course you'd have to talk to them about
that to understand what I mean. Anyway, go on and feel free to check out
the rest of the site; have fun with it. I'm putting a lot of work into
it and hopefully you'll enjoy what you see.
Random Statement on the General Public: I have no tolerance for
stupid people.
